[IMail Forum] Using a DoD connection disables DNS

I have my system dialing the internet every hour to send all qued SMTP email, the problem is that while connected it apears to disable the DNS for a while. Any idea what causes this. This means that essentially my server is unavailable during the time that it is sending internet messages.
