Hi,

We are using IMail to provide a free web-based mail service. The web service
accesses IMail through IMAP.

Recently we are experiencing serious performance problem. When someone
accesses his mailbox using IMAP, it is very slow - list of folders takes
about 1 second per folder, list of messages takes one second per message.

We have over 14000 accounts.

Can someone help me?

I think it might have to do something with the fact that there are over
14000 subdirectories in the IMail\Users directory. Is it possible to
organize these directories any way, by first letter for example?

I was also wondering if there is another way to access IMail mailboxes
programmatically. I discovered that IMail stores it's messages in mbox
format, which is quite straitforward. Could the mailbox files be used
directly? How would locking work?

Magnus
