I have asked about this a couple of times before, with no replies, but I thought I would try one more time. The majority of our users are web-based and on more than one occasion (about 20 times now), I get support questions like the one below. It seems that the body of one message is being inserted into the body of another. Can any one shed any light, or possible reasons for this? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Steve >>>>>>>> Actual support email >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dear Support Now, sometimes the server goes down for a while, and sometimes I lose a message when I click "SEND" and get a "Could not connect to server" error, but of course my pervious page is a form and my composed mail is lost forever. This is the price I pay for using a web-based service I suppose, and while this happened several times today, this is not the purpose of my writing to you. I write to you because the *STRANGEST* email thing I have ever experienced happened today. I wrote a mail to a friend of mine, and he replied, saying "What the hell is this? Who are these people you talk about??" When I went down to read the included message, I found that SOMEONE ELSE'S message was included! The subject and part of the message were what I wrote, but more than half of it was a letter written by someone else to someone else. Below is the reply from my friend, I can assure you that he did not fabricate it. The subject is correct, but everything from ".03>" to "keri" is some other person's email. I must admit that it disturbs me greatly to think that someone else might be getting emails that I write, or that people might be receiving emails from me that I did not write. The mail below did not contain any particularly private content, but other mails I wrote today sure did. I would be pretty angry if they were randomly sent to strangers, NEVER MIND other RPI alumni who might know who I am!! Perhaps I should have started encrypting my mail a long time ago... Thank you for you attention regarding this, I thought you definitely should know about it! -Patrick Kenney [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- dude, what the f*** is the point of the rest of this email? who is randy and why do i care? cook > From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Apr 26 12:22 EDT 2000 > Date: Wed, 26 Apr 2000 12:22:27 -0400 > Mime-Version: 1.0 > From: "kennep" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (Michael Cook ) > Subject: Regarding the Fact that You Play Chess > > .03> > > hey there! how is it going? did you get my message last night or are you ingoring me? kidding. no biggie b/c i talked to randy last night. she is going to add me to the list and get me a ticket as well. i will just take the train in after practice. i will stay friday night and then head back to PA saturda morning for my track meet. i will most likely head back in to meet you guys when my meet is over. i wll be back and forth, back and forth but it will be well worth it. > > i am really looking forward to the 3 of us getting together again. i hope your husband is not the type that gets pissed off when his wife gets all goofy...b/c that is what you will be when randy and i get a hold of you...non-stop laughter. > > have to get going. i'll be home tonight if you want to call. otherwise i won't be around till monday. going to see my man after practice tomorrow. ciao, > > keri > > > [ NOW, HERE IS MY REAL MAIL -pkenney ] > yo dawg, what time you be's a-plannin' ta git off'sa work? > > i ask cuz these canoe-race people have set up a dinner/meeting at 8 o'clock, which leaves some time after work and before this dinner that some guys are talking about spending at the crystal bar... so if you would be up for a beer or two just after work, we'll probably be heading over there around 6ish. > > i could even bring the old chess set along... > and we could show these europeans what blitz is all about!
