FYI - In case anyone is interested, I think I figured it out.

I sent myself a couple of messages without subjects using Outlook and
Outlook Express, and noticed that if there was no subject, the word
"Subject" did not appear in the header.

- If it is true that the message rule for a list is applied before delivery
to the list server - that is, before the list server modifies the subject,
then this will work
H!~Subject:filtered

It shouldn't work for me if the message rule for a list is applied AFTER
delivery to the list server, however, because (with subject modification)
the list server will add the line
Subject: [World]
to the header.

The manual seems to indicate that the rule is applied before a message gets
to the list server - I have added this rule, but I'm afraid to test it, lest
I set a bad example for the list.
I will just wait and see what happens the next time someone screws up.

By the way, is anyone else USING message rules for lists?
