This is an excellent topic.
I have NAVIEG, but am unhappy with its inability to detect attachments that
are done via webmail. If you send a message into your server via any webmail
system, attach a file, it will not be scanned or deleted if you have that
option. The same file attached via a mail client is deleted with no problem.
Anyway, I am looking for a command line AV app for NT/2000. I am running
Email Essentials and wish to have it provide the AV function as well as
content checking.
Currently I have to have NAVIEG front the mail server to AV scan. It passes
into EE which does content and attachment filtering then sends to IMail.
Playing with ports and settings for all three is lots of fun<g>.
As we have a Platinum subscription to Symantec AV, I wish they did the job.
But, if a browser attached file escapes them...
Any recommendations for a command line AV app? As long as I'm wishing, how
about one that updates itself on a schedule?
Is there a way to get IMail to send to a particular port? I know how to get
it to listen on different ports. By the way, for anyone wishing to use
IMail's LDAP with Win2K AD you can change the LDAP port the same way you
change the SMTP port. It works fine in my installation.

ah, "performance issues", then why are you trying to put both NAV and IMail
on the same machine??
Are you talking about NAV or NAVIEG? if latter, put NAVIEG on its own
machine upstream from Imail. Your AV machine should typically be more
powerful (cpu speed, memory, disk speed) than your Imail machine.
