no, Imail runs on NT and is a complete mail system: smtp client/server (aka
MTA: Mail Transfer Agent), POP3, IMAP, LDAP, Web messaging, monitoring.
postfix is only an MTA and only for *nix machines. I chose it for IMGate
mail gateway because it is ONLY an MTA, which is all a mail gateway/hub
machine needs.

If you generate your e-zine list traffic in CF, the just have CF deliver to
postfix directly, no need to relay through Imail. Imail keeps on doing what
you have it doing now.

Ipswitch has foreseen the gateway possibility: in the Imail SMTP tab, "send
all mail through gateway" and enter the ip address of the postfix
machine. Imail will not attempt to deliver mail to the "RCPT TO:
recipient@recipientdomain", but just dump the outgoing mail on the SMTP
gateway server's ip address. very fast, at LAN speed, no DNS lookup, no
Internet delays.
NOTE: Imail is bugged. If you tell Imail to use a gateway, it will,
erroneously, also send relay mail to the gateway rather than to the relayed
server's ip address found in the NT hosts file. ie, Imail couples relay
mail and gateway mail. bug. So only if your Imail is not doing mail
relay, can you use the Imail-to-gateway option.
