I agree with Len's statement...IMail did not break NT and installing NT
without IIS 2.0 is a must, then install IIS 4.0 from Option Pak CD.

This was  a mistake.  Upgrading IIS2 to IIS3 or IIS4 has a long, nasty
history of unreliabiilty and instability and the only way to fix it is
re-install NT.

If you can't fix your current pb quickly, do the "MS quick fix" (ie, wipe
your disk) install NT4 without IIS2 and then install the NT options pak to
get IIS4 clean. or something like that.  check with your local MSCE for
professional guidance, but just try to avoid upgrading IIS, it can be a
nightmare.

Imail install or Imail upgrade, both benign processes, do not break IIS, in
my many experiences.  Your NT was screwed up before Imail install, and you
disovered your NT pb's after Imail install. Causality is wrong conclusion.
