In Imail, if you set the mail host as mail.domain.com and the host alias as
domain.com, the reply to and mail from will default to @mail.domain.com
although you can change that manually, account by account, in each user
record.

If you set the mail host as domain.com and the host alias as
mail.domain.com, the reply to and mail from will default to @domain.com.

Whichever way you do it, use these MX records:

mail.domain.com MX 10 mail.domain.com.
domain.com. MX 10 mail.domain.com.
