LDAP is LDAP... a directory server, that should be accessible from from
any client using the correct protocols.

Not true. We've tested problems with both Outlook and OE.

We're not "blaming" Ipswitch; rather, we're proactively working with
their engineers on this problem. It's real, believe me. If you've got
your LDAP service running, give me your URL so I can demonstrate how
easy it is to permanently peg your CPU at 100%.
Don't you think it'd be nice to have a searchable user directory built
into a webmail system? Maybe you're in a small organization, or don't
use WebMail, or just don't care what others might want... but I hear
requests on nearly a daily basis from our WebMail template users that
want a "real" address book. Now, if IMail's LDAP server worked like most
other LDAP servers in the world, we'd already have it done, using ASP
and MS's ADSI components. Instead, we've found the need to develop a
custom COM object to get it done. And with Ipswitch's help, we're 99%
there.
>oh ya and it's objectclass="person" not
> objectclass=person...........
Details, details. I've seen it work both ways, actually.
I was really hoping for some constructive input from other users
familiar with the LDAP service... sorry if I touched a nerve, Frank.
