There is definatly an open smoking hole there waiting to be exploited. A
nice batch file sending a slow constant trickle of spam could stay hidden
for weeks.
The question is on your part, an ethical one.
Do you?
A: let him find out for himself, as after all he is a 'former' customer.
B: Take pity on him hoping the act of helping him will result in future
work.
C: Make him feel 3" tall for deserting your services.

We have a customer that took their mail in-house. On a hunch, I telnet'ed
to port 25 on their new mail server and, using the general commands (helo,
mail from:, rcpt to:, data) that telnet allows, I was able to send myself a
message - the person it was from was asdfasdf and NO other info appeared to
be entered. Do I get the privilege of yelling at my former customer and
tell him to close the open spam relay?
