I am new to this list but have been using Imail for 2 years. In that time we have not experienced any major problems with Imail. Now I have a wierd one.

Our Imail server, over a period of time, seems to stop sending mail outside of the server. Local mail works fine always, but without any apparent reason I start getting bounces saying that messages could not be sent.
Can you provide some log snippets, the imailprogram\spool\sysMMDD.txt thingies, that show the send failures? That's eternally the starting point.
If I reboot the server,
ah, this resets everything including the NT4 tcp/ip stack that MS has apparently re-worked so heavily for W2K.
A better tactic would be to stop/start JUST the Imail SMTP service alone, to see if that gets failed sends to be delivered.
Imail works fine for several days to a month, but eventually stops sending outgoing mail.
Imail is not alone, it depends heavily on DNS. Any pb's with the DNS machine that Imail is pointed at? Even if not, can you point Imail at an ip of a totally different DNS.
When Imail gets into this sends-failing mode, do you look in the NT task manager to see how all the processes are behaving and resources are deployed?? Snapshot that just after reboot, and then compare the snap with the same view when it gets sick.
What else is running int he machine?
What version Imail? NT? Svc Pack?
have you look in the KB for "send fail" or "smtp failure" and related phrases?
