I have IMail 6 running on a 1 Processor PIII 550 Machine with SQL Server 7. What works seems to work ok. Although I think IPSwitch have a long way to go towards making IMail be a coherent product, it feels really quite KLUNCKY and unfinished. I've noticed heavy memory and CPU usage for the SQL Server process (70 MB and 50% of CPU time), but then i have nothing to compare it against. The server has about 3000 mailboxes in one table, and another 300 tables with about 5-30 mailboxes each. I am using the original DLL that came with Imail. Would the situation improve with NICEMAN's DLL? (It's basically all related to threading, with 1 processor, you may be pretty luck, the more processors you have the worse it gets, try the normal dll and turn on sql logging on a busy server and you'll see loads of errors) AND yes they have been pointed out too ipswitch several times, and nothing happened, they just release a newer version of imail with more features (for web etc) BUT NEVER FIXED THE FLAWS THAT ARE THERE in SQL!!! -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of David Bergerson Sent: 31 July 2000 17:53 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] SQL Server 7 - Again http://home.worldnet.att.net/~niceman/ If you get things working, please post to the list. The scary thing is that I know the sql interface works. If it didn't people would be hooting and hollering. I just can't get it to work in my environment. dave -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Mercury Internet Technical Support Sent: Monday, July 31, 2000 11:57 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] SQL Server 7 - Again Where can i get NICEMAN's DLL from ?? ----- Original Message ----- From: David Bergerson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, July 31, 2000 5:50 PM Subject: [IMail Forum] SQL Server 7 - Again I know that this seems to be a well used and abused topic. I have read through the archives and am basically pulling my hair out on this one. I have done the limited RTFM's (mail and manual) and have gotten nowhere. If someone could take the time that has gotten this to work, I would appreciate it. Here is what we are trying to accomplish: Write a front end that will add and delete users. I also need to use the table for other things as well. I created a database that I want to store tables in. I created one called email that has the specs that are listed in the manual. I have gotten nowhere with that. I have a system DSN that tests ok via the odbc control panel. This is a single server setup. I downloaded niceman's dll and installed it per the instructions. I have no extra domains, just the default localhost domain that DNS reports to the machine. I went into the Imail admin, clicked on the machine name. It prompts for database type. I specify external db. I then point to the dll, the dsn and left the table name blank. It created a new table called dtproperties. I went to "ad support" to click it on/off to get the apply button active. I then applied the settings. I then tried to create a new user, called abc. I got the error to check the db settings. I went back to the general settings. I changed the table from default to dtproperties. No dice. I then thought that it may want it as dbo.dtproperties, again can not add a user. I then tried to use the table that I defined and no dice. I am at a loss. Ironically, we are evaling this as a solution and so far it seems a pain in the butt.
