I have just signed up at a web hosting company which uses IMail 5.08 to
provide list-server services to the virtual hosts there. I'm having some
major problems getting the "help" file to work, and in using their webforms
to add and modify addresses.

Here the problem in a nutshell. If I subscribe using e-mail, the address is
subscribed "naked" and appears in the list of names on the webform (e.g.
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]"). As long as the name is subscribed in this way and
remains unchanged, I can request the help file and unsubscribe using e-mail.
But if I [Modify] the name on the webform (e.g. change to
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]") or if I [Add] a new name using the webform, the
[Modified] or [Added] name has angle-brackets around it (e.g.
"<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" and I can no longer request help or unsubscribe using
e-mail. I get the following messages back from imailsrv:

    Date sent: Wed, 2 Aug 2000 00:33:43 -0400
    From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (List Server)
    To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    Subject: Unsuccessful Unsubscribe

You weren't subscribed (either digest or standard mode) to XXXX or a
    groupserver error occurred!

and

    Date sent: Wed, 2 Aug 2000 00:31:52 -0400
    From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (List Server)
    To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: Help Message for (XXXX) Rejected!

The Help Message for (sbpa) is for subscribers only!

In both these cases the list shows "<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" as being a member
of the list XXXX.

Once a name has the angle-brackets around it in the web-form, I can't remove
them.

Is this a bug in IMailSrv in v5.08 that has been patched in 5.09 or fixed in
a later version? Is there some configuration thing I need to pass on to the
hosting company to make changes to their setup to get this working?

In freedom,

                   Angus W. S-F
                   ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
