Yes, there should be MX, A and PTR records in the DNS pointing to my host. I
don't administer the DNS servers but the administrator of DNSs have added
those records.
About the mail server's hosts file, I have there two IP addresses:
127.0.0.1 localhost
xxx.xx.xx.xxx host.domain.com
