I had the problem. It turns out that the client
computer ran out of temp space, causing some of the email not to be sent
(beats the hell out of me)... I uninstalled some programs to create more space
and it fixed the problem.
In my case, my user is mass mailing to her clients
and she had a couple thousand of addresses that she sends to every
time...
