Imgate is one of the SMTP servers, Imail remains the other just for 
SMTP AUTH relaying.

that's why you should have a differnt host.domain.com for each service.

smtp.domain.com   which is Imail.

it's very simple.  SMTP AUTH relay mail from Imail users must be sent 
only to imail since only Imail knows users/passwords.   MX's are 
pointed at IMgate so other mail servers send their mail to Imgate who 
will only accept the mail for relay to Imail for those Imails you put 
into imgate/postfix's  relayed_domains file.

This separation/specialization of SMTP relay responsibilities is very 
explicit in the diagrams on the Imgate site.
