That depends on the amount of traffic you have. I have seen it handle about 10,000
messages per day on the same machine as IMail, and it seemed OK -- but, CPU usage
would often go up to around 100% (actually, 50% as it was a dual processor machine).
When scanning attachments, I believe that WebShield SMTP uses "normal" priority, which
means that unless it has really good timeslice management, it may slow down other
services. But, on this machine, IMail would always respond pretty quickly.

No, it doesn't need its own IP address. You can have it accept mail on port 25, and
pass mail on to IMail on a different port (don't use their default of 1025 though!).

Well, I like to summarize my experience by saying that I hate the product, but no
matter how much I hate it, it ends up catching the viruses. So I keep it. There are,
however, other people here who haven't had problems with it.
Just make sure when you tell it what domain names are local, to add both the domain
name AND the domain name followed by a ".". For example, "my_domain.com" and
"my_domain.com.". Otherwise, a bug will cause a nasty problem if someone sends mail
to "my_domain.com." (an infinite mail loop that will keep growing and eat up CPU time
and disk space until the system slows to a crawl).
