Is Ipswitch listening??
We'd like to see a few features added to Imail that would (IMHO) greatly
improve the administration
of imail.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
#1: Change the structure of the location of "aliases". Many of our
accounts have dozens of standard aliases
and it is very cumbersome to configure and work with these. We came from
the world of Netscape Messaging
Server. (We left and moved to imail due to it's improved relaying
security).
It's quite difficult to determine how many and which aliases point to a mail
account when you have thousands
of accounts and thousands of aliases per domain....
The one great thing about NMS is that when you are working with a mail
account, there is a separate field right
on the account management screen that lists ALL of the aliases that are
"attached" to the account.
It would make it MUCH easier if imail had an additional "tab" on the account
maintenance screen that lists all
of the standard aliases that point to this e-mail account.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
#2: How about a web based interface to subscribe, unsubscribe and change
type of subscription (ie: standard vs. digest)
to a mailing list. AND a confirmation message mailed to the e-mail address
provided so that the system can validate
the authenticity of the request. (HKSI.net has a pretty neat system on
their web site under "lists")
----------------------------------------------------------------------
#3: Better list server management and error handling. It really doesn't
compare to other list server applications and
we'd love to start using it for some mission critical applications but are a
bit afraid to trust it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
#4: ABILITY TO RESTRICT WHICH IP ADDRESSES THE WEB MESSAGING SERVER BINDS
TO !!!!
We'd love to have imail bind to one IP address using port 80 for web
messaging. This would allow it to co-exist
with a web server. The whole port 8383 (and any port other than 80) thing
is causing us great grief since many of
our clients are behind very restrictive firewalls. The product that we used
to use for web messaging (webmail from
Infinite Technologies) would allow you to select the IP Address(s) that it
would bind to.
Thanks for listening !!
