I know that iMAIL is tied to the hostname in the DNS tab. What we need to do
is change the IP of the NIC card. Our current hostname is the one iMAIL
uses. We do want to keep iMAIL tied to that host name but we don't want that
hostname tied to the NIC IP number. Is there a way to get this done in
iMAIL?

I don't use Outlook or MS Proxy but I can retrieve e-mail from the outside
using a SMTP/POP3 through a router and proxy server to my IMail machine on
a private IP. Due to anti-relay settings I can't send email but then there
is web email and the user's ISP email server for that.
Have you tried using a generic POP3/SMTP client? I'm not at home to check
my setting my email-from-work settings but to get home email from work I
have
login name: username#home.mail.server.com
SMTP server: internal IP of my IMail server
POP (incoming) internal IP of my Proxy Server
Hope it helps, proxys can be a pain.
