Todd,

I do not know the relationship to the services you mention and the Browser
service, but the error message seems to indicate there is some communication
problem between this server and another and it is having trouble reading a
'backup list'. Maybe if you can resolve the cause of this 'read' problem,
you will eliminate the problem with IMail. I wonder if you are using an NT
database for one of the IMail domains users? If you are and this server is
the BDC, maybe the problem is related to syncronization of the BDC to the
PDC? Maybe that is the 'backup list'?

Are there any other events in the log that preceed this error you report?
Maybe something else is leading to this failure?

Just tried to get to the web site 'nrgnetworks.com' and the SMTP service and
was unable to do either! Also note that your domain does not have an MX
record (which you should have regardless of the mail server you use), so
other mail servers will likely try (after failure to find/reslove MX) the IP
assigned to the domain (which seems to be unresponsive right now!). Even a
Ping did not get a response. Probably means that you won't get this email!

I did get a Ping response from ns1.nrgnetworks.com. And tried that address
for SMTP. POP3 and Password services of IMail, but no response.

Just did a Zone Transfer from your DNS server and found webserver. and tried
that and connected to IMail SMTP and it responds with:
220 X1 NT-ESMTP Server ctnet.ctnetworks.com (IMail 6.04 227-3)

Which is a completely different host/domain. However a bit more testing
shows:
vrfy root
250 ok its for <root>
vrfy [EMAIL PROTECTED]
550 not local host ngrnetworks.com, not a gateway
vrfy [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok its for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
vrfy [EMAIL PROTECTED]
550 not local host mail.nrgnetworks.com, not a gateway
vrfy [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok its for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Which tells me that IMail will accept mail for you and the domain, once it
is directed to the correct IP (which DNS is not doing for this
nrgnetworks.com domain!). I'm not sure how you might be getting email to
your IMail server, unless you are sending to user@[ipaddress].

Seems that during the time I took to create this message, some of the above
connection problems have resolved (I could now connect to website). Maybe I
caught the time when you were doing something to the host/domain?
