After almost a year of running IMail 5.x without any problems whatsoever and
utilizing the SMTP AUTH feature all of a sudden we began to have our users
complain that the server is prompting them over and over for their
username/password. Nothing has changed on the server or client side. The
only thing that fixes this is resetting the SMTP service. It seems to be ok
for an arbitrary period of time only to come right back.

Does anyone know what caused this problem and perhaps a resolution for it?

configuration:
NT 4 sp6a
IMail 5.09 (unlimited users)
Relay for IP addresses only
Report SMTP AUTH enabled
