This is a little different... but how (win2k) can I set up DNS for a domain
to use the same IP as another account, and yet have a different web or
content directory? I know virtual domains can be set up without each having
a dedicated IP, but I can't find out how it's done!?!
(contrary to the old saying, books can't take you everywhere)
Thanks,
George

Mark,
As Ron did, I assume you own each of the domains. And can setup the DNS
records correctly. With that said, there is no need to create another domain
in IMail, if you want the same set of users to get the mail regardless of
which domain it is sent to. Just add another 'Alias' (sympatico.net) to the
existing, sympatico.ca, domain, and IMail will accept email to the users for
either domain. So, Joe will get email sent to either address.
If you do not own the domain, then there is nothing you can do in IMail that
will route the mail to your server. That depends on DNS and MX records. If
it cannot get to IMail, then it could never be accepted, even if you added
the 'Alias'. But if there were an alias and this were only local users
sending email (to the wrong domain), then this mail would not leave the
IMail system (IMail will see the alias) and it would get to the correct
users account. Outside email to either domain will still be routed by DNS
and MX records.
