After over a year of running Imail with SQL, I STRONGLY recommend you DO NOT
run Imail on the same box as the SQL server. No matter what you limit the
memory to, SQL will bog down Imail. For efficient and fast SQL performence,
keep it on it's own box...

IMail CAN handle SMTP AUTH with an external database, we have been doing
this succesfully for some time. This problem was first corrected when Mike
Nice wrote a new ODBSUSER.DLL file and later (v 6.04 I believe) when
IPSwitch integrated that DLL structure in their shipping ODBCUSER.DLL Make
SURE you have the latest MDAC pac from Microsoft installed!

Imail Server should be on a seperate box from SQL. That is one of the
reasons for SQL Server. You can have all your databases on SQL and
individual machines on the network connect to it through ODBC.
