Hi Atif,
This is most likely due to the SQL permissions. The following article has
some info about setting up the SQL username and password in IMail
http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19990622-DM01.htm
Essentially if you haven't done it already create a user on your SQL server
then configure IMail to use it.
If you do a general search on ODBC in the imail knowledge base then you will
find a number of articles about common problems accessing a SQL database.
Hope this helps

Subject: [IMail Forum] please help me
Hello All
I am new to Imail. We are an ISP in Pakistan with a user base of around
100,000. We are planning to switch from Sendmail to Imail due to its great
features. At the moment we are evaluating it, but we are stuck with the
database connectivity part. Our legacy database is in SQL 6.5. I have done
all that is said in the manual, but whenever I try to add user, it gives
the following error;
" Cannot create the user, check external database settings"
I have not modified the ODBCUSER.DLL, Do I have to ?. Is this written
specifically for MS Access database ?
I have system DSN by the name of 'imail' and it conncts to the database
whenever I run the test. But when I come to Imail and try to add user, it
just does not work.
Can anyone help me with this ?. I will appreciate any help from anyone.
thanks
atif
