Yes this is possible and I would recommend it.  Imail is a great web and
POP3 server but it lacking for SMTP.  I would suggest using Sendmail or
Qmail as your SMTP mail gateway.  You can list multiple gateways by using a
hostname and have that hostname resolve to 2 IP's.  Thus creating a DNS load
share.
