JK,
Our new Killer templates include a "Remember Me" feature on the login screen
that, if checked, sets cookies with the user's login info, and shoots them
right into their mail when the login page is subsequently accessed. If your
portal code can set similar cookies, that might suit your needs.
We've also got a "You've Got IMail" product coming out in a few days that
lets you display a new message count on any of your portal pages (if the
"Remember Me" was checked), shows a login form if not, and has links both to
go into the mail screen and to compose a new message in a popup window.
Makes integrating IMail with a portal-type site fairly painless. We'll
announce to this list when it's ready to go.
