Silly me. I searched for "code" & "codes" (as in error codes).
Turns out they are called "error levels."
For others who want the SCAN.EXE error codes, see page 84 in
"cmd47doc.pdf" which is in the \manuals\vscan\cmdline directory:
0 = no errors & no viruses found
13 = one or more viruses or hostile objects found
