Q: If I use the internal Imail database, then SMTP AUTH  works with virtual
domains and I dont need to Use IMGate to secure my system. Is that correct?

I have "only" about 400 users and 30 domains

yes, anti-spam and other defenses are separate completely from
internal/external user databases.
