I just had somebody else ask this privately and I think it's a good combo.
IMGate rejects 90% of the abusive mail so Declude doesn't see it,
including rejecting mail with fixed, un-encoded strings in headers
and body like ILOVEYOU and AnnaK crap. In our shop, IMGate alone (no
AV ) caught all the AnnaK crap this week before it could get to our
IMGateAV box.
IMGate also handles the outgoing deliveries to Internet. This
offload and decrease of mail volume by IMGate from the Imial/Declude
box allows Declude to handle more Imail sites that Declude alone could.
Plus you move the DoS defenses from Imail/Declude to IMgate, where it
should be.
