I've been trying to get our rules working for the last few weeks. I have been in touch
with IMail Support but found them less than helpful.

I now have it working - it is so simple to use it is fantastic!

I store the words/phrases I wish to filter in a text file (as per page 76 of the
manual), I then refer to this when writing rules in the rules.ima file. Combine this
with .fwd files in each user mail folder, all mail filtered goes directly to the
mailbox I want, and no-where else!

Now, if I wish to add another word/phrase, all I do is add it to my text file - simple
and effective, especially if you want to use the same set of words/phrases more than
once in the rules.ima (eg in the body and the subject)

Example....

Put words/phrases in a text file with file extension .rul
Correct syntax for this file is....
(searchtext1|searchtext2|searchtext3)
....all on one line.

Then, add rules to the rules.ima
Correct syntax for this is....
B~:textfile:filterbox
S~:textfile:filterbox
H~:textfile:filterbox
F~:textfile:filterbox
T~:textfile:filterbox
N~:textfile:filterbox
....where textfile is the name of the text file that holds your list of words/phrases
with extension .rul
....where filterbox is the name of the mailbox you wish messages filtered to be sent

Put a text file filterbox.fwd in each users mail folder that contains the full address
of the user you wish to send the filtered messages to.
The correct syntax for this is....
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
....where filterbox is the name of the mailbox you wish the message to be sent

Note: you can use a batch file to do this for you.
