John,
Yes, I would always expect the -main (or other name, if submailbox,
i.e. -sent) to show up in the log. I suppose this could be a simple
truncation of the log line, but that should not happen either.
Since this seem to be a local delivery problem and that is not usually a
problem, I would have to suspect some corruption of the program code in
IMail. To fix that, I'd suggest a re-install, just to be safe.
Of course there are other possibilities, too. Check you Event Logs, looking
for Warnings and Errors and resolve them. Make sure you have enough RAM (64
M at least) and swap space (MS recommends 3*RAM).
When you installed IMail, did you use the full name of the machine or just
the domain name? If the latter, then you will need to make an entry in the
HOSTS file. (looks like you used the FQDN, good!).
I just connected to the server and although I had the only SMTP connection,
IMail is responding very slowly. Something is slowing it down! Check Task
Manager to see if CPU util is high and what is using all the horsepower.
Shut that down, if at all possible. If CPU is normal, then something else is
slowing things down. Have you enabled 'Auditing' under NT? If so, then that
could contribute to the trouble.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Help with local delivery problem

[EMAIL PROTECTED] Also, many messages sent from outside domains do not get
through to the local user. However, this does not happen all of the time. I
tested this with POP3 and web messaging from inside the domain and sure
enough some go through and some do not. I noticed in the log file that a
typical entry will look like this for a delivered message.

Notice the main is gone in the second line. This problem may or may not be
related to attachment, but my test involved attachments.
