Our SMTP service is stopping since we started SMTP AUTH.

We have approximately 10,000 users over approximately 700 domains. Most of
theses are virtual IP domains. We just started using SMTP AUTH Thursday
afternoon and now our customers are reporting that at times the server keeps
asking them for their passwords when they send email. I can also duplicate
the problem. It has not happed over the weekend however it did on Thursday
and Friday when our load increased 5 times over the weekend load.

If I restart the SMPT32 service the problem goes away however sometimes this
only works for a few minutes. This is happening several times throughout
the day.

We had a dedicated machine running Win2000 Server, on an Quad Zeon IBM
Netfinity with and 2.5 gigs of RAM running at max of 15% of capacity. I
have seen this same problem reported in this newsgroup but never saw a
solution.

Thank for any help anybody can offer.

Steve
