I'm pretty sure that web messaging doesn't use IMAP4 for retreiving E-mail, but
accesses the mailboxes directly. When it sends the mail, it definitely uses
imail1.exe, not IMAP4 or SMTP. Web messaging does work similarly to IMAP4, since both
allow folders.

Not to worry. IMAP4 is a protocol for retrieving messages. They will arrive (or be
sent) via SMTP, so they will get scanned.
