There's a well-known IMail bug where whitespace in the HTML code gets
converting to tons of " " strings (non-breaking space symbols),
breaking table layouts and wreaking general mayhem on page layout. If you do
a view source on the web page displaying the message, you'll see all those
strings where they shouldn't be.
If you're seeing raw HTML tags, then the headers of whatever program
composed and sent the message are screwed up. Set your user prefs to display
Full headers in webmail, and send us your headers for examination.
If you are in control of the HTML composition, minimize whitespace and table
usage... other than that, not much to do but wait until IMail 7 when we hope
that problem goes away. :)
