People have used ASP, but they are basically wrappers around the existing IMail
templates. For example, you can use ASP to automatically log on a user so they do not
have to enter their username and password.
But, you aren't going to be able to use ASP to get any information from IMail (besides
what is returned from the IMail web pages). In order to write a true ASP based
interface to IMail, you would need to connect to IMail via the web from the ASP page,
then parse the page to get whatever information you needed. Not pretty. If you are
thinking about going to that much effort, you might as well use SMTP/POP3, which would
be (in my opinion at least) a lot easier.

You can go to http://www.killerwebmail.com to test them out.
