Hi folks,
Here is a bit of an unusual situation. I work at an educational institute,
and we have our main mail servers on VMS. The staff have computers with
POP3, and just POP3 their email from these servers. The students don't have
computers (most of them), so we forward their mail to IMail, and they use
the web interface.
Last year when I set this up, I made the host name webmail.pbi.ab.ca. As I
added users, their return address, by default, came to be
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
For various reasons, we would like the return address in IMail to be
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
We are using the IMail database (i.e. in the registry). NT4, SP6A, IMail
6.04 (yes, I should upgrade to the latest, but I'll wait until the students
are all gone. It's working now :)
I guess my options are:
1. Dump the registry (the IMail key and below), change the
@webmail.pbi.ab.ca to @pbi.ab.ca, and reload the registry (faster this way
than manually changing each registry key, or by changing it using the IMail
administrator program). This won't solve the problem for new users who will
be added in September (when they come to school).
2. Change the name of my server. I assume that following Knowledge Base
article IM-19991007-DM01 ("How to change the Official Hostname of an
existing domain") is the way to do that. To get my goal, I would need to
change it to "pbi.ab.ca", but I assume that would cause problems with the
main servers.
3. Something I haven't thought of.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mark
