Computerized Horizons has just released Declude Hijack, a program that prevents unwanted mass mailings. The main reason this program was created was to help people who run mail servers that need to be an open relay. With Declude Hijack, you can have an open relay, while still preventing spammers from hijacking your mail server. That way, you save the time and hassle of keeping lists of "safe" IP addresses, and eliminate the tech support costs involved with SMTP AUTH. Another benefit of this program is that it will prevent your own users from spamming. If you are an ISP or offer free E-mail, you will no longer have to worry that one of your new customers will take down your mail server by sending out spam. Others will benefit when Declude Hijack helps control virus outbreaks. If a virus gets through your virus scanner, and someone gets one of those viruses that sends itself to everyone listed in Outlook's address book, Declude Hijack can minimize or eliminate the copies of the virus that get out. Also, you can minimize the damage caused by some types of mail loops. For example, if a user of yours has their mail forwarded to another server, which then forwards the mail back to you, Declude Hijack will notice this and stop the loop. This is all done by controlling the amount of outgoing E-mail that can be sent in a given amount of time, so users don't have to make any changes.
