I second that. We have tested W2K servers without AD and used W2K DNS for a
29,000 domain name project. Worked just fine without AD. As a matter of
fact AD just sloooowed things down. We used BIND running on a RedHat box
and it more than doubled the response time. The W2K DNS hit a ceiling that
BIND obviously does not have.
