Obviously this isn't my specialty. I use MS SMTP for CDONTs with IIS. When
first installing Imail, I had problems with using CDONTs and I thought it
was recommended from this list (can't remember) to have MS SMTP incoming
connection on 26. Web server is webster.pepi2.com. In the near future I
would like to relay for addresses.
Daniel, I stopped MS SMTP, stopped and started Imail SMTP, but Outlook
Express failed to connect to webster.pepi2.com. I thought domain aliases
needed to be in accept.txt file for relay for hosts?

Just to get the terms straight, SMTP is used to send/receive E-mail. POP3
is used to retrieve E-mail once it is on the server (you can't send E-mail
through POP3, you use SMTP for that). IMAP4 is used to retrieve E-mail
from the server (with enhanced features such as being able to keep E-mail
in folders on the server).

That should be changed. That allows spammers to use your mail server, it
just forces them to use a fake address on one of your domains. It also
means that your users can't send mail using other domains, which some users
may want to do.
You want "Relay mail for Addresses" (entering in "safe" IP addresses that
your users may be coming from), and use SMTP AUTH for everyone else.

This could be part of the problem. Why is MS SMTP installed? Why does it
need to listen on port 26? Why is it sending mail?

You shouldn't use port 26, unless that is where IMail is located.

It's hard to say without more information. Do the logs show a connect when
users try sending mail? Is IMail listening on the SMTP port or is MS? If
you let us know the domain of the mail server, we can check it for you.
