It would be in your best interest (fastest answers!) to try the
KnowledgeBase, first. I've included a URL for you, in my signature.
1. Open IMail Administrator, expand the IMail Administrator and then select
the LocalHost. On the General tab, the last entry is the installed date (and
I think the time). Last time I saw the eval, I though it gave me the
expiration date, when I opened IMail Administrator and it was within 1 week
of expiring. Calculate the pre-expiration warning date from the above date
field and add 38 days. That would be the first day I would expect to see the
warning upon opening IMail Admin.
2. Backups are always important (and you should backup prior to any major
change to your system), but my experience with many thousands of installs,
tells me that you do not have to worry much about that, just to 're-install
IMail'. Install only copies files (and makes needed registry entries, if it
does not find them) that are contained in the IMail folder. Select all the
defaults during the re-install and all will be well. I won't say that you
'have to' backup, that is your decision. But I've either run it myself or
helped many, many people, 're-install' and the only time there was any
trouble was when there was a problem with the hard disk or when someone had
're-installed', but changed the settings during that second install. DON'T
DO THAT (yes, I'm shouting, so you hear!!) and the chances of it going right
are 99.999% (estimated, but probably close!).
