IMail Server is a comprehensive electronic mail solution designed for Windows NT/2000.
IMail Server meets the ever-increasing Internet and intranet e-mail requirements of

administer, IMail Server significantly reduces both the initial cost of e-mail
implementation and the on-going cost of administration. Its easy-to-use features

Web Calendaring for Keeping Track
of Schedules
IMail's Web calendaring is a Web-based calendar that allows users to keep
multiple schedules accessible through an intuitive Web interface. Web calendaring
provides a user-friendly interface for storing schedules, appointments, task lists,
and date reminder information all in one location.
Web calendaring in IMail Server 7.0 greatly expands the power of an already
versatile e-mail server, since users are now able to better manage and keep track of
their busy schedules. One convenient feature includes the ability to automatically
invite attendees to a meeting through IMail Server's e-mail functionality. Once the
meeting has been scheduled, IMail Server can automatically send a reminder to
attendees via e-mail prior to the meeting.
Users can also take advantage of the calendaring function to schedule
reminders for important dates and events such as meetings and appointments or even
birthdays and anniversaries. A search function enables users to look up an event by
name if they are unsure of its date and time. The calendaring function is accessible
remotely from any location through any Web browser, which is especially attractive to
telecommuters and mobile workforces.
Monitor Server Traffic to Troubleshoot Issues in Real-Time
Administrators can now view system statistics such as number of users logged
in and amount of data sent and received, which helps them to pinpoint and troubleshoot
issues in real-time. Monitoring server traffic also allows administrators to
significantly reduce the amount of spam sent to users since they can deny access to
someone they see sending a large amount of e-mail to the server.
Web Messaging Improvements
IMail Server also has an updated, more intuitive Web interface which makes it
an "out-of-the-box solution." The product is easier to navigate and administrators
save time since they do not have to customize interfaces to make them more
aesthetically pleasing for users.
Improved Remote Administration
Administrators will also experience easier administration and maintenance due
to improvements in IMail Server's remote administration functionality. Now, the same
console application used locally can be utilized remotely. This means that
administrators save time and can address server issues more quickly since they can
connect to and manage a server from any location. Tasks and commands are implemented
in the same manner whether an administrator is at his desk or at a remote site.
Additionally, administrators can connect to multiple servers and do not have to
physically be at a server to make changes or updates. This is especially attractive
to service providers that have many servers and customers dispersed throughout a
variety of locations.

away from the office or just away from their desks and need quick and easy access to
their e-mail messages. As more Web terminals are made available for public use at
airports, hotels, conference centers, trade shows, and other public places, the

IMail Server has some of the most powerful Web messaging features available in
an e-mail server today. These include the ability to customize (by domain) the look
of Web pages where users access their e-mail and edit their user settings. This
allows administrators to change the look and feel of all pages and buttons, from
incorporating a company's logo are changing the screen's background color to
translating the interface to another language besides English.
For end users, key features to IMail's Web messaging include address book,
spell check, and multiple mail folders. With the Web messaging address book, users
don't need to retype addresses each time they send a message. Web messaging can save
addresses when a user is sending or reading a message. The mail folders feature allows
users to create multiple folders and move messages between them.
Additional features that end users will benefit from are the ability to save
unfinished messages in a draft folder and deleting messages in a mailbox with just one
click. With "cookie" support, end users can save their user ID and password, so it is
entered automatically each time they log on.
IMail Server's powerful rules interface allows users to block spam, stop
viruses, and organize e-mail.

Unsolicited e-mail and unauthorized mail relays have become problems for many
companies. IMail Server offers several ways to protect your server against unwanted
e-mail traffic.
Anti-spamming Features
IMail Server builds upon its legacy as the first NT-based e-mail server to
offer anti-spamming capabilities. IMail Server can require users to authenticate
before authorizing them to relay mail through IMail Server. Both of these
capabilities are especially appealing to administrators who need to control what
traffic flows through their servers. Other strategies for controlling spam include
kill lists, relays for addresses, hosts, or users, and controlling access by blocking
IP addresses.
Security Features
IMail Server supports the Internet standards for secure transmission of

Communicator, Palladin, and Eudora.

Customizable Web Templates
Administrators continue to have the ability to localize IMail Server into

single Windows NT/2000 system. This means that an ISP, for example, can create a
different virtual host to represent each customer's domain - each with its own users,
lists, aliases, and Web templates. Virtual domains can either be assigned their own IP
address or multiple domains can share a single IP address.
Scaleable to Thousands of Users
IMail Server is available in three license configurations - 250-users,
1,000-users, and unlimited number of users. The license for unlimited number of users
is a particularly significant feature for small and growing businesses who need to
provide e-mail accounts to employees on a regular basis. There is no additional
charge for adding more users.
Create Discussion Groups with
IMail's List Server
IMail Server's list server feature enables users to create mailing lists and
discussion groups where individual users can exchange thoughts and ideas. All
messages sent to a discussion group are forwarded to all group members. Adding or
removing a user from a discussion group is as simple as sending a message to IMail's
list server, which automatically updates the member list. It also includes convenient
features such as the ability to add user-defined "header" and "trailer" text to each
message body, and user-defined text to the beginning of the subject line. It also
provides support for private lists, the ability to subscribe a user by simply
forwarding a message. In addition, a digest mode allows users to combine incoming
messages into a single summary message.
Administrators can control who can post to a list server mailing list by
requiring the use of a password. And, administrators can create public lists but
still screen messages sent to them by programming filters that flag designated words
and phrases to keep out unauthorized users and undesirable content. This greatly
helps in anti-spamming efforts and reducing junk mail sent to legitimate mailing lists
or to ensure only appropriate content gets distributed to list members such as a
school class.
Built-in Monitoring of Critical Services
IMail Server can monitor specific services and resources associated with the
NT/2000 server on which it resides. These include SMTP, POP3, WWW, News, and DNS
services in addition to an external router and remaining disk space. With built-in
notification, system administrators are assured of knowing if something goes wrong
with any of their mission-critical services. In addition, each of the monitored
services can be set up to automatically restart itself, or each can be restarted
remotely using IMail Server's remote administration capabilities.
Automated Mail Response
IMail Server enables system administrators to set up custom replies for
incoming mail associated with a particular mailbox. For example, the administrator
can configure a mailbox called "info." If someone sends a message to the "info"
mailbox, the custom reply is automatically generated. The sender benefits from an
immediate response, and the need for dedicated person to respond to incoming messages
is eliminated.
Full LDAP Directory Support
By creating a standard way for applications to request and manage directory
information, LDAP has become another popular feature for standards-based mail servers.
A simplified subset of the much more elaborate X.500 Directory Access Protocol, LDAP
is more appropriate for many of today's applications - on both the client and server
sides - since it makes fewer demands on system resources. By supporting LDAP, IMail
Server allows users of LDAP enabled clients such as Netscape's Communicator to locate
LDAP directory information that may include name, phone number, e-mail address,
organization, department, and address.
IMAP4 for Increased User Flexibility
With more and more users finding they need access to their mail from multiple
computers, IMAP4 is rapidly becoming a mandatory feature for Internet standards based
mail servers. By incorporating IMAP4, IMail Server provides mail users with the added
flexibility of being able to access and manipulate their mail folders - anytime,
anywhere. Now, whether in the office, at home, or on the road, mail users can view
messages in all of their folders - increasing efficiency for those working from
multiple locations.
Mail-to-Pager Capability
With IMail Server's Mail-to-Pager feature, system administrators can create
special aliases that route messages to users' alphanumeric pagers. The sender's
identification and the first 250 characters of a message can be read by the receiving
pager. The entire message can also be saved in a user-specified mailbox.
Mail-to-Fax Option
IMail Server's mail-to-fax option allows system administrators to create
special aliases that route messages directly to a fax machine. This feature allows
ISPs, for example, to set up e-mail accounts for customers who do not have a PC or
Internet access and want to receive e-mail messages via a fax machine. With this
option, other users can send fax messages from their desks by sending e-mail to a
special account on a local server that faxes it to the recipient.
