IMail Forum:
A problem was found with IMail Server 7.01 when it is used as a secondary
mail server. We pride ourselves on the quality of our software product and
even though the problem only happens when IMail Server is a secondary mail
server, we felt it necessary to stop shipping version 7.01 until the problem
can be resolved.
The problem occurs when IMail Server is a secondary MX server for a domain
and the primary MX server for that domain is unreachable, IMail Server will
attempt to deliver to the primary mail server. When IMail Server cannot
connect to the primary MX, it will redeliver the message to itself. After
doing this 5 times, IMail Server will consider the message looped and
discontinue delivery attempts. Effectively losing the message.
If you are running IMail Server as a secondary mail server or if you are
doing "store and forward"(backup) for another mail server it is recommended
that you do not install version 7.01. If you have already installed
version 7.01 you can safely re-install version 6.06 until version 7.02 is
available. We expect to have version 7.02 available shortly and a
notification will be sent when it is fully tested and ready for release.
Thank you.
