i may be misinformed with this, but do that many people have Javascript
disabled or not supported by their browser? just looking at the stats from
BrowserHawk on my own websites (9 of them), only about 1 in every 80 or so
unique hits has Javascript disabled, and about the same number don't support
it. i don't see Javascript being a downside in any way - unless the
developer did something dumb.
java, on the other hand, is a downside for me. the only time i use it is
when i have to (like a crystal reports viewer), and my browsers are set to
not run java applets without explicit permission from me. just be thankful
you don't need to run a little java applet to protect your published email
addresses :)
