This is something that Ipswitch really should address.  With 7.0, the 
problem is still there, just a lot less annoying.  It seems that they have 
found a way not to have the MIME code displayed, but it seems that in the 
places where it would display the MIME code before, you still can't 
download/view the attachment.  I'm guessing they are a step away from 
solving the problem.

For what it's worth, MIME can get extremely complex, and it takes a long 
time to learn all the variations out there (most/all of which are perfectly 
legal).  For example, you can have an actual E-mail (complete with original 
headers and body) embedded within an another actual E-mail embedded in the 
original E-mail.  Any one of those three E-mail segments could have 
attachments, and they could be encoded in a number of different ways.
