If I follow your question correctly... You want to merge the intranet mail accounts, and internet accounts? Well, setup an imail server on your T1 with a public IP (be sure to use SMTP Auth), then straight up use the public server all the time. Modify the DNS for your domain to use the newly constructed server, instead of the ISP mail server. I assume that your users on the intranet also have web access correct? I'm not really following what the issue is here.... Or are you trying to figure out how to move all existing mail from the intranet server to the internet server....
