If I might comment, check the info on it at
McAfee. You may have been one of the lucky few to have received a brand
new virus. occasionally a new virus will hit the on line community just
after the new virus profiles (dats) are published by anyone of the leading
anti-virus software makers. If that happens there is a delay while the
virus is detected, analyzed, and a solution is developed. The local
community college got hit that way by the SirCAM virus and in three days their
anti-virus software vender had a solution. Unfortunately for them, in
three days the virus was spread through out their network and the personal
PCs/networks of the staff, faculty and student body. All of the major
anti-virus companies have a cut off for what goes into any given update and if
something new comes out after that it will most likely appear in the next
update. There are exceptions for the more virulent pandemic viruses, where
an interim patch (a special edition update so to speak) will be published.
lately there have been several of these.
One other factor is that the publication
dates for the various anti-virus companies vary as do their cut off dates, so
one company may be a head of the competition for a week or so. To use the
country colloquial, "It's a horse race, down to the wire every
week."

virus, Mcafee or F-prot?
Here is one that McAfee
cought at the workstation but Declude with F-Prot did not. I went to the
f-secure web site and searched for this virus and it was not in there
database!
McAfee VShield for Win9X-4.0.3: The file C:\PROGRAM
FILES\POINTCLEAR\POINTCLEAR HCS\STORE\TEMP\KBGRESUME.DOC on GAMMILLC was
infected with the virus W97M/Myna.gen. The file was successfully cleaned.
