That sounds suspiciously like IMail's wacky handling of the digest mode of
mailing lists. If you have the digest mode enabled for a list, it seems
that IMail will use a mailbox in the owner's account with the same name as
the list, and then daily will attempt to create new mailboxes with that
day's name in it and copy over the new E-mails into it.
