One way I was thinking to detect spam attacks would be to somehow set up some kind of alert if the spool queue grows to a certain size. We have all the relay mail for options selected that we can but this still does not prevent Email machines that we allow smtp through from being an open relay as we cannot control external email servers. (we run tests on these outside machines periodically but am looking for a better solution) anyone have any suggestions?
