Actually,

We use Omniquad's MailWall and NAV 2001.  The MailWall sends the following 
command to Nav for each attachment it gets.

Program: z:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Navdx.exe
Command: z:\mailwall\temp /s+ /m- /b- > z:\mailwall\report.txt

This works like a charm for us and has for the past six months.  So with 
that being said... I would not say that NAV cannot work with a batch of 
automated env.  It works for us with no problems, it cleans and if canot 
clean it quarantines and also checks for auto updates every 30 minutes and 
applies patches unattended.
