All what I'm gonna say is known by trial and error, may have mistakes,
but in general I think it works
On Linux (RedHat) it's so simple as edit a file /etc/mail/access, and add
a line:
yourdomain.org RELAY
This means that it will accept as relay, any mail that is send to any
address of the domain "yourdomain.org"; in time, (if the primary server
doesn't boot up "IN DAYS") the mail could be deleted.
Who wants to pay for a Windows license 27.000$+Mail program?

P.D.: Take care on RedHat 7.2 RELAY is disabled by default, you may have
to edit too /etc/mail/sendmail.mc, and comment (dnl) a line about 127.0.0.1,
and run:
m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/sendmail.cf

I've read Len's website on setting up a
FreeBSD-based ETRN servers when the current
mail server is down.
However, I'd like to build a backup MX server
but running on Windows 2000.
Can anyone recommend on a solution? Free

I'd also like to confirm that the purpose of
ETRN server is to "collect mail for the downed
server", and when the "downed server" gets up,
it *immediately* gets back everything from the
ETRN ?
MUST the operating mailserver have a feature
that says "ETRN supported" before I can embark
on such a setup? Does IMail and Mailmax have
such a feature?
